How can collective wellbeing help us make better policy decisions? Roundtable on Carnegie UK’s Life in the UK England report
Register now
This roundtable event will hear the findings from Carnegie’s report and discuss how focusing on collective wellbeing can help to shape better policy decisions. Now in its second year, the Life in the UK Index provides a rich evidence base – across social, economic, environmental and democratic domains – about what life is like for people in England. Evidence in the report tells a story about the impact of rising living costs, wide inequalities across society, and big challenges around democratic wellbeing.
The findings strengthen the case to focus on the big challenges which are well known to local government and partners working across the country with their communities. The nuance of these findings also point towards reasons for hope and opportunities for action – such as bringing power closer to people through devolution and innovating to measure what matters to people.
The report will be a launchpad for a roundtable discussion with Carnegie UK. This session will explore how putting wellbeing at the centre of decisions could support local, regional and national government to collectively have more impact on the big issues that matter to people.
There are many examples of community, local and regionally led responses and examples of those leading the way in putting wellbeing at the centre of policymaking and practice and this event offers a chance to share learning and insight about what needs to change and how to have impact.
