From our flagship Stronger Things event, to intimate peer-learning sessions, to workshops on the most urgent sector issues – our events are a vital part of our work at New Local.
Most events are exclusive to our members. Sessions are expertly facilitated, providing a confidential and safe environment in which participants share and learn real-life insights. They are almost all online, allowing greater participation from across the UK.
What events programme is right for you?
Innovation Exchanges give member councils a space to step away from day-to-day activities and engage with peers from across the country. Each session unpacks a big challenge or opportunity facing councils and their communities. Sessions are peer-led and practically focused, so you should walk away with insights, ideas and learning to share with your team.
How We Did It: You’ve been charged with implementing that big idea – what do you do first? From citizen assemblies to climate emergencies, we’ll put an officer that’s ‘been there and done that’ in the hotseat. There’ll be no high-level conceptual stuff – just what you need to do to deliver.
Next Generation Programme: Your council’s rising stars get to work directly with the experts on the cutting edge of radical new approaches. This course is aimed exclusively at those who aspire to the top jobs.
Spotlight Sessions: Giving you the opportunity to join sessions outside of our regular programming, bringing new collaborations and relevant external events onto your radar

Strategy Labs: Our Labs build on three key themes —Power, Prevention, and Place— providing a space for candid, solution-driven discussions on live issues and the demands of the future. Participants share a passion for innovative thinking and support one another by leveraging the collective experience and wisdom of the group to tackle challenges from new perspectives.

Reorganising for outcomes: This series will provide an ongoing space for Chief Executives, Deputy and Assistant Chief Executives involved in LGR to come together and share learning and experiences. The content of the series will evolve to respond to the needs of those participating, while maintaining a focus on the longer term and how to ensure reorganisation results in strong, community-anchored and preventative models of local service delivery.
Research Events: These workshops are crucial to informing New Local reports and publications. Expertly facilitated by members of our Thought Leadership Team, sessions give colleagues from councils across the UK a space to share their first-hand experience and expertise on some of the most pressing issues the sector is facing.
