Join us for this member only Lunch and Learn session with Catherine Mangan, Professor of Public Management and Leadership and Interim Head of College of Social Sciences at the Institute of Local Government Studies, University of Birmingham and New Local Board member.

A year ago Catherine joined us to discuss her influential work 21st Century Public Servant.  During this session she will be sharing her latest research and findings in her work The 21st Century Councillor – Revisited, which looks at the changing roles undertaken by councillors and the associated support and development needs.  Through interviews with over 50 councillors she has developed a set of characteristics for an effective councillor to thrive in the current context.

Bring your lunch and join us as we hear from Catherine about the new findings and how these identified characteristics aim to be useful for councillors as individuals and for staff in terms of organisational development.  There will be the opportunity to join in the discussion and connect with others to think about how these findings resonate for you and what needs to be put in place to support these skills in your organisation.
