Many councils have committed to net zero, but embedding climate resilience into whole-organisation transformation remains a major challenge. This session will explore how local authorities can integrate climate risk into their strategic planning and work through the significant impacts on future service delivery.

You will hear Rachel Toresen-Owuor, Senior Director – Climate at Local Partnerships, alongside a local authority colleague, sharing their experience of implementing the Local Partnership’s Climate adaptation Toolkit. They will discuss the steps, challenges, and best practices for embedding climate resilience across council operations and reflect on key learnings from their experience.

We will focus on areas that are useful to consider when looking at whole council transformation, and making your services fit for the future and provide you with practical takeaways for your work, including answers to the questions:

  • How do you get started in considering climate within large transformation projects?
  • What collaborations are crucial to success?
  • What is the impact of this for the council, and for communities?
  • How do you engage colleagues in the process?

Join us to explore how councils can future-proof their services and make the most of emerging technologies in climate adaptation.
