Reorganising for outcomes: Developing people and organisational capabilities, confidence and community approaches

12.00pm - 1.00pm  |  3 March 2026  |  Online

Local Government Reorganisation presents a complex set of people-related challenges for senior leaders.  Alongside the obvious tasks, like ensuring retention or coordinating terms and conditions, leaders must also maintain engagement, a shared vision and morale through a period of prolonged uncertainty.

Reorganisation also offers a rare strategic opportunity: to strengthen leadership capability, invest in skills development and embed more relational, community-focused ways of working that will potentially shape the culture of new unitary authorities from day one.

This Reorganising for Outcomes session will create space for senior officers and strategic leaders to explore the art of the possible in workforce development and organisational design during periods of structural change. The session will focus on how organisations can build resilience, motivation and capability at scale, while aligning workforce development with place-based and community focused public service reform ambitions.

During this session there will be a chance to talk through with other senior colleagues the different approaches you are taking and to tease out together the challenges and opportunities of developing and nurturing your workforce at this time of change.
