A new commercialism is evolving within the local government sector. In the search for financial sustainability, councils are increasingly looking to grow their commercial functions and develop an entrepreneurial culture. Some authorities have begun leveraging their existing assets or developing a council company model – or both, in cases such as Bristol’s own renewable energy company to tackle fuel poverty.

At this private dinner, alongside fellow prominent figures, you will consider what the new commercialism looks like and what impact it might have on factors including:

This private dinner is a fringe event of the LGA Conference 2017 in Birmingham city centre and provides an excellent opportunity for networking with peers. We will also hear contributions from key stakeholders to be confirmed soon.
