Total Place Now is a one-day convention bringing together local system leaders and national policymakers to accelerate place‑based public service reform.

It focuses on how places are already re‑orientating existing public spend around people, place and partnership, and what would help them go further, faster.

This is not a theoretical debate. It is a working convention rooted in live policy decisions, real delivery experience, and the shared task of scaling what works.

Tuesday 17 March
9am-5pm
Westminster

Why this moment matters

  • Central government is actively exploring new models of public service reform, fiscal flexibility and devolution.
  • Five Total Place–style pilots are underway, raising urgent questions about learning, growth and scale beyond pilots.
  • Across the country, local leaders are already acting to integrate budgets, align outcomes and redesign services.

What’s missing is a shared, practical conversation that connects these efforts, surfaces what’s actually happening, and helps national and local actors unlock progress together.

Why it matters to be in the room

Attending Total Place Now means:

  • Influencing live thinking in Whitehall about what comes after the pilots
  • Learning directly from places already doing this work at neighbourhood, authority and system level
  • Helping shape how place‑based reform becomes a core condition of wider public service reform, not another short‑lived initiative
  • Leaving with clearer answers, not just better questions

Who it’s for

This event is for those who are doing the work or actively shaping the conditions for it:

  • Senior local authority and combined authority leaders
  • National policymakers and officials working on public service reform, devolution, finance and outcomes
  • Practitioners leading system change across public services, VCSE and funding organisations
  • Policy leaders and commentators with a track record of influencing real decisions
