Colleagues throughout local government are still stuck between the rock of shrinking resources and the hard place of rising demand in many (if not all) service areas. The effect of the cost of living crisis is creating increased volatility in terms of people requiring support, making long term investment in prevention – which everyone agrees is needed in principle – harder to sustain in practice.

In this context, understanding how existing resources can have the greatest impact on prevention to improve outcomes and reduce demand is ever more important.

Come together with your peers from across the UK to explore how best to make the case for investing in prevention within your council, when budget setting rounds have multiple and more immediate demands on funding.

This session will also provide an opportunity to examine how working in different ways in partnership across local systems of public services and voluntary sector organisations can build a shared understanding of what prevention means in practice and what impact is achievable.

Join us at this Innovation Exchange session where you’ll:

  • Build an understanding of how the case for spending on prevention over the longer term can be made
  • Explore next steps and key considerations you need to bear in mind when developing partnerships across sectors
  • Hear practical takeaways from colleagues who are already moving their councils to work in this way
