Amy Hurst

Head of Practice
ahurst@newlocal.org.uk

Amy brings experience of working both within and alongside public services, motivated by the opportunity for services and institutions to reimagine their relationships with local people and communities.

Starting her career in community safety within local government, she then moved into a commissioning and policy role with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset where she held a portfolio including children and young people, mental health and policing, and reducing reoffending. Since stepping outside of working directly within public services, she spent time working as part of the national Tackling Child Exploitation programme, working with local partnerships to strengthen strategic multi-agency approaches to child exploitation and extra-familial harm, before moving on to Collaborate CIC where she worked with local authorities, VCSE partners, NHS and others on cross sector collaboration, place-based change and developing more relational approaches to commissioning.

Their local:  Amy grew up in the North East coastal town of Whitley Bay, before moving south to study in Cardiff. She now lives in the South Bristol neighbourhood of Bedminster, home to Europe’s largest street art festival, Upfest.
