Maanya brings experience of community centred research and programme coordination across the voluntary sector, local government, and academia, motivated by a belief that the people most affected by a problem are best placed to shape its solution.
Before joining New Local, Maanya completed a 10 month peer research project with LSE Cities and Islington Council, engaging over 100 young people to produce evidence-based recommendations for inclusive climate policy findings she presented at the LSE Festival 2025. She has also coordinated programmes in the race equality sector and worked as a London representative for the Centre for Youth Voice in partnership with Partnership for Young London.
Maanya holds an MA in International Politics and Human Rights and a BSc in International Politics and Sociology, both from City St George’s, University of London. Her work sits at the intersection of race equity, youth policy, and community-led research. Their local: Maanya grew up in North London and has spent most of her life in the city, living and studying across different parts of the capital.
