Facing untold demand and financial pressures following the pandemic, councils are increasingly looking to radically transform their operating model to avoid future crises and continue to deliver decent services. But many of those leading that change immediately find themselves hindered by organisational cultures that see change as too risky. They also find certain teams will look for every reason to block new ways of working.

This Innovation Exchange will explore how you can develop a less risk-averse culture and enabling mind-set at your council that recognises that the status quo is far from being a risk-free option. Together, we’ll explore live examples of councils that have worked closely with their legal, finance, procurement and wider teams in a positive way that assesses risk in a balanced, change-oriented fashion.

You’ll leave the session equipped with practical tips, positive next steps and new a network of people facing similar challenges.

Participation in New Local events is free and exclusive to members of our Network. If you would like to find out more, please contact Francesca.

“Do not miss a New Local Innovation Exchange – I came back to my council with fresh insights, practical ideas for implementation and a brand new network of people in exactly the same boat as me” Joanna Ruffle, Director of Transformation, Southend Council

Innovation Exchanges give participants from our member councils a space to step away from day-to-day activities and engage with peers from across the country. Each session addresses a big challenge or opportunity facing councils and their communities. Sessions are peer-led and practically-focused, so participants come away with insights, ideas and learning to share with their teams.
