Councils and their employees can transform levels of trust and build towards positive relationships with residents through each interaction. People-facing services are vital, not solely for meeting resident’s needs, but also in determining resident’s attitudes and engagement with Councils.

Some councils are recognising this challenge and expanding a people first approach. They’re making sure that the interactions residents have with frontline services and staff from all departments are purposeful and contribute to reassuring residents their views and voices are valued. But this can be tricky to implement, especially at times when all staff capacity is stretched. How can you demonstrate that this level of service transformation is worthwhile?

Join us at this session to explore the steps that are necessary to adopt a person first approach. Through discussion with your peers you will explore the benefits of this way of working, what barriers stand in the way and useful ideas to overcome them.

With colleagues from across the UK you will develop:

  • An understanding of how this approach can benefit your communities and your council
  • Next steps and key considerations you need to bear in mind when taking this forward
  • Practical takeaways from colleagues who are already doing this
