Councils are often looking for new and innovative ways to engage and hear from people in their communities.

Designing spaces and conversations that ensure you create a comfortable and productive space for everyone is essential, especially if you want to hear from all voices in your place.

At this session we will hear about how Wakefield’s Big Conversation trained 100 ‘conversationalists’, to have over 1,300 face to face conversations with people across the Wakefield district.  The project used a data driven approach, looking at data daily to identify which communities they weren’t reaching and adapting the programme in real time to ensure that they heard from those they hadn’t spoken to yet.

The session will explore the nuts and bolts of the project, how it was set up and run, as well as the results this method can deliver for communities and councils.

We will focus entirely on practical delivery and provide you with vital takeaways for your work, including answers to the questions:

  • How do I use data driven insights to reach different communities?
  • How do I train staff and partners to have inclusive conversations?
  • What is the impact of this way of working?
