The Climate Emergency – Mobilising Your Council
Register nowAddressing climate change is a major imperative for councils across the country with many now having declared a climate emergency. More than ever councils are expected not just to work with residents and business to drive down emissions but also to put their own house in order. Indeed, a council that is not taking meaningful action can hardly expect to have credibility when it urges others to change.
So, how are councils addressing this challenge as they push towards carbon neutrality? What is the ‘low-hanging fruit’ for reducing emissions, what are the knottier challenges and what are the more radical moves that could soon be mainstream? Most importantly, how do you make carbon reduction a matter for everyone who works at a council so that the whole workforce is pushing towards this shared goal?

“Do not miss a New Local Innovation Exchange – I came back to my council with fresh insights, practical ideas for implementation and a brand new network of people in exactly the same boat as me”
Joanna Ruffle, Director of Transformation, Southend Council
Innovation Exchanges give participants from our member councils a space to step away from day-to-day activities and engage with peers from across the country. Each session addresses a big challenge or opportunity facing councils and their communities. Sessions are peer-led and practically-focused, so participants come away with insights, ideas and learning to share with their teams.
