Summer joined New Local as Communications Manager in August 2022.

She is passionate about telling powerful stories to help shift the dial towards more inclusive and equitable communities.

Previously, Summer led communications at THET, a global health organisation that works in partnership with the NHS to strengthen health systems around the world. Before this, she worked for a number of local and international charities on advocacy, communications and fundraising.

She holds an MSc in International Development: Poverty, Conflict and Reconstruction from the University of Manchester.

Their local: Summer grew up in the countryside near Cupar in Northeast Fife, home to the high school attended by the Proclaimers, before moving 500 miles to East London.
