Catriona joined New Local in January 2023.
After training as a Citizenship teacher in a north London high school, Catriona set up community-based education charity The Hackney Pirates (now Literacy Pirates) where she was Chief Executive for 7 years. She then worked as a consultant and advisor to organisations across the social sector, focusing on strategy, organisational development, and entrepreneurship. She previously held roles as Venture Manager at Ashoka and trustee of the Economist Educational Foundation. She is a previous Fulbright scholar and an Associate of the Relationships Project.
Their Local: Catriona grew up in Ealing – the end of the central line, the home of great British film and – for a while – Neil Kinnock. This led her to conclude that all politicians must live in Ealing, which turned out not to be correct. She made home on the other side of London and spent a decade in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, before a brief spell in the US. She is now getting to know a new community around her current home in Bristol.
